Buyer’s guide
When it comes to finding the perfect laptop cushion for your needs, there are five things you need to take into account
- Comfort
- Portability
- Price
- Safety
- Versatility
Comfort
There are many solutions in the growing laptop cushion market. Some of the questions you should ask yourself when you look for your cushion are: Is it heavy? Does it feel good resting on my lap? Does my lap get hot and sweaty under it? Does the design give some “suspension” to the laptop, so that it moves with my body? Does the material have some friction against my clothes so that it doesn’t slide off? There are bound to be several products that meet many, if not all, of these requirements. The Portapad is one of them.
Portability
What many users of laptop cushions find is that they want to take it away with them when they go away on business or holiday, or just for their commute. However, most solutions are not small and also not light. Weighing in at less than 150grams, the Portapad meets this requirement and since it’s inflatable, it’s no bigger than a normal tabloid newspaper.
Price
Laptop cushions vary wildly in price. You can get some cheap junk at Ikea for next to nothing if you so desire. On the other end of the spectrum, I’m sure you can get some fancy silk cushion embroidered with gold thread too (after seeing the weirdness of the xxx, anything can happen). But if you are invested in making this a really good user experience, you may be better served by rising a little over the absolute pits when going shopping.
Safety
This is a requirement which almost all laptop cushions meet. The main problem with laptops is not electromagnetism like some may believe, it’s the heat they generate sitting on your lap. Research has found that normal laptop use is likely to kill off 40% of your sperm cells, which is NOT good considering modern men’s sperm quality is already at an all-time low. So if you want children, protect yourself from the dangers of your laptop.
Versatility
Does your laptop cushion fulfill your needs in all of your personal use case scenarios or just one or two of them? Some solutions out there, like the lumbering crane offer by Lounge Book, only works in a few limited scenarios. We think it’s important to be conscious consumers and consider resource consumption a relevant parameter when choosing your product. If you have to buy several products to meet the requirements that one product could otherwise meet, you are wasting your valuable time and money as well as nature’s scant remaining resources. This is why we recommend the Portapad, a one-stop solution for all your laptop user needs. Granted, we’re partial, but we also mean it.
